Manyika of Mozambique
2025 Status Update
We’ve seen amazing things happen among the Manyika. For example, Baptist pastors who had been going to the Manyika took up an offering to provide the materials for a wood-and- thatch shelter where a Bible study group could worship together. The Manyika Bible study group has since become a church, baptized 10 believers, and chosen a leader who will receive pastoral training. We’re asking God to grow strong believers who are called to be leaders of this church and many others.

ability to teach.

that cross-cultural workers can wisely engage the Manyika.

two Weeks
We Praise God for:
- Traveling Grace:
- James and Sonya traveled around the Jinja area during the last weeks without problems or difficulties.
- As the Herrons prepare for several ministry opportunities this week:
- Sonya’s Tuesday Bible Study and On-Line Bible Study and Prayer Ministry
- James is preparing for a mission team from Nevada in August.
- James Bible Study Sunday.
- We are thankful for the continued outreach on Sigulu Island and our ability to assist with helping with transportation to areas where there are new churches which need spiritual assistance.
- Pastor Odongo coordination of Discipleship-Evangelism Training for 20th –25th July.
- We thank God for Madison’s readjustment to being in boarding school for the third term as she completes her first year at RVA.
- Her adjustment to being home.
- We thank God for Pastor Odongo and the Hasusuni Baptist Church for their commitment to the reaching and discipleship of the those who recently accepted Christ during the last few weeks.
- We thank God for Bro. John, from Sigulu Island being accepted to attend the cross-cultural ministry in Nairobi in August 2025.
- Bro. John and Hamal completing their first week of seminary class for this term.
- We thank God that Bro, John and Hamal as they completed the research of the different tribes and languages on Sigulu Island.

for the Herron’s This Coming Week
21st —28th July
2025
- Pray for the Herrons as they travel this week:
- James and Sonya drive in and around the Jinja area during this week.
- Pray for God guidance as Joseph Wafula Pastor Odongo and the team from Sigulu Baptist Association train pastors and church leaders to evangelize and disciple new believers during our mission team visit in early August.
- Pray for Pastor Odongo and his team as they continue to assist with the training and outreach efforts to develop new believers.
- Pray for God’s provision for the coming months as the Herron’s has many opportunities to expand their work to different islands on Lake Victoria.
- Pray for the physical, emotional, and spiritual health of the Herrons.
- Continue to pray for Bro. John and Hamal as they start their second term at UBS:
- Pray for their spending time away from their family and ministry during their study.
- Pray that they are prepared to assist and teach local pastors and church leaders upon them returning from their studies.
- Pray that God will give the Herron’s insight and spiritual wisdom in making wise ministry decisions as they engage in ministering on Buvuma and Sigulu Islands.
- Pray for the Herron’s ministry tasks we have this week.
- Pray for preparations for the mission team scheduled for early August.
- Making plans for securing the food that is to be distributed.
- Training on Sigulu Island for the teams that will be discipling the new believers.
- Pray that the Herron would be light and salt to the people they meet this week.
- Pray that the Herron’s will be given the words to share to others about Jesus and how they might receive the salvation from God offered through a relationship with Christ.
- Pray for Madison as she completes her studies at RVA and returns to Jinja for her break until late August.
- Pray for our families in the USA:
- Our three sons and their families
- Our oldest son Keith in Memphis, Tennessee
- Our middle son, Jason, and his wife Marsha and their two sons Jacob and Joshua
- Our youngest son, Jeremy, and his wife Jennifer, and his three children, Kim, Colie, and Cy as he serves in the Army in stationed on Stuttgart, Germany.
- Babra in Heidelberg, Germany as she prepares for critical examinations in June.
- Madison as she returns home for her end of school break.
- Pray for our siblings, aunts and uncles and their families.
