24-31 March Prayer Requests

James and Sonya Herron, IMB Missionaries
Uganda East Africa
Fishers of Men (Upper Buvuma Islands)

The vision of the International Mission Board is to see a multitude from every language, people, tribe and nation knowing and worshiping our Lord Jesus Christ

This past week I had to confront one of our pastor concerning false teaching that has permeated East Africa Christendom. In visiting one of the church in our association of churches, I noticed a calendar of a prominent Kampala pastor quoting from Deuteronomy 28:6 “Blessed shall you be when you come in, and blessed shall you be when you go out.”  There was an enormous picture of the pastor at the top of the poster; there were much smaller pictures of other sister churches associated with her and a small 2015 calendar in the middle.  The pastor declared a “war on poverty” in 2015.  The message proclaimed from calendar was believers should clam their blessing in 2015 and when you send monies to me, I will tell you how you can receive your blessing this year.

Many profess pastors have people being monies they do not have so the pastor can pray for them to receive blessings.  As Christian leaders we must protect the Church of Christ because of these and other false teachings which drew from the message of salvation.

The believers must be reminded:
1But false prophets also arose among the people, just as there will be false teachers among you, who will secretly bring in destructive heresies, even denying the Master who bought them, bringing upon themselves swift destruction. 2And many will follow their sensuality, and because of them the way of truth will be blasphemed. 3And in their greed they will exploit you with false words. Their condemnation from long ago is not idle, and their destruction is not asleep. 2 Peter 2:1-3 ESV.

Continue to pray for us as we teach, disciple, train and mentor Ugandan pastors and church leaders to… 15Do your best to present yourself to God as one approved, a worker who has no need to be ashamed, rightly handling the word of truth. 2 Timothy 2:15 ESV

Prayer Request 9-15 March

James and Sonya Herron, IMB Missionaries
Uganda East Africa
Fishers of Men (Upper Buvuma Islands)

The vision of the International Mission Board is to see a multitude from every language, people, tribe and nation knowing and worshiping our Lord Jesus Christ

Prayer Request for Monday 8th March—Sunday 15th March

As Jesus was returning to the Father after completing the task of purchasing our redemption, He commanded us to make disciples. 19 Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20 and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.”  (Matthew 28:19-20 NIV)  If we expect to receive the blessing of our Savior, we must be obedient to this command and make disciples.

Our major focus is to lead our pastors and church leaders in discipling new believers to become committed follower of Christ.  Recently during a Sunday morning worship service, praise and worship time, two person accepted Christ as Lord and Savior.  After these new believers were introduced to the congregation, the pastor asked who would be willing to disciple these new believers.  Two persons volunteered and they introduced themselves stating they would disciple them in their spiritual growth.

This was very rewarding to see the pastor take initiative in assuring the new believers will be disciple and the congregation willingness and able to begin the process of discipling these n new believers.   This is an indication that the leaders are getting the message of their need to guarantee new believers will be properly disciple.

Pray for us as we teach mentor and model biblical discipleship to these pastors and church leaders and they teach, mentor and model discipleship to others who will do the same.
