“For although they knew God, they neither glorified him as God nor gave thanks to him, but their thinking became futile and their foolish hearts were darkened.” (Romans 1:21)

Zigua of Tanzania

People all over Africa claim that they believe there is a “God” who is the creator of all things and who is all powerful. But Islam teaches that one cannot truly know God or have a relationship with Him. Animism, which includes the belief that spirits inhabit inanimate objects, often displays its practices in whatever religion an African takes on.

The Zigua (zee-goo-ah) of Tanzania are a rural, agricultural people of over a half a million who live in the northeastern part of Tanzania. They are predominately Muslims, and although they claim to know God, they have never truly yielded their lives to their Creator. Islam has grown in strength and has brought a lot of confusion and resistance to the spread of the gospel, thus forcing some missionary personnel to relocate away from the Zigua.

Pray

  • For Great Commission partners who are able to continue to work among the Zigua for now but will be relocating soon.
  • That Zigua believers will be bold to share the gospel with their friends, family members and neighbors.
  • For children who have heard the gospel during English lessons and church-related activities. Pray that these spiritual seeds will be watered by others.

Praise God for 22nd 28th March 2021

“For as many of you as were baptized into Christ have put on Christ. There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither slave nor free, there is no male and female, for you are all one in Christ Jesus.” (Galatians 3:27-28 ESV)

Pray for the Okpamheri of Nigeria

The Okpamheri number less than 100,000 and are found only in the southern portion of Nigeria. In the mid-19th century, a group of Okpamheri villages and towns gathered together in unity to stave off slave raiders. Today, in a nod to their history, the term “Okpamheri” can be used to mean “we are one.” The Okpamheri are very hospitable and peaceful. They are typically farmers who live in a collection of towns and villages in the Edo state of Nigeria. While the Okpamheri have their own language, many from the younger generation do not speak it, choosing instead to speak more predominant languages like English or Yoruba.

Pray

    • Pray that the Okpamheri would know Christ deeply and be a light for Him in their community.
    • Pray that the Okpameri would not give in to animism or believe false gospels that are prevalent in their country.
    • Pray that God would use the unity that’s valued among the Okpamheri to bring entire villages to Christ at one time. Pray their new motto would be, “We are one church!”

Praise God for 15th 21st March 2021

“Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn from me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.” (Matthew 11:28-30 ESV)

Pray for the Ingessana of Sudan

The Ingessana people of Sudan number just over 100,000. They are a Muslim people group that has no Bible translation, no “JESUS” film, no gospel recordings, and no radio broadcasts that share the gospel message. They live a life of on-going political conflict, which forces many of them to flee their areas and live as refugees. Making their living from the land, they depend on cultivating the land, raising livestock, and crafting.

Pray

    • Pray the Ingessana people will have the opportunity to hear the gospel message.
    • Pray those who are called to share with the Ingessana people will truly hear God’s voice and respond in obedience.
    • Pray the Ingessana will know and follow Christ, who gives rest.

Praise God for 01st 14th March 2021
