“Behold, I am doing a new thing; now it springs forth, do you not perceive it? I will make a way in the wilderness and rivers in the desert.” (Isaiah 43:19 ESV)

Pray for the Wolof of Mauritania

The Wolof are a West African people mostly found in Senegal. However, over 230,000 Wolof live in the Islamic Republic of Mauritania, a country on the northern border of Senegal. It is illegal to share the gospel openly in Mauritania. Evangelism is prohibited by law. The Wolof in Mauritania are considered inferior to the "white Arabs" who live among them.

Pray

·       For God to raise up Wolof believers in Senegal who are willing to live among the Wolof in Mauritania in hopes of sharing the gospel despite the law restrictions.

·       That in a land that is a desert, both physically and spiritually, God would allow the Wolof to discover the water of life: Jesus.

·       That God would allow those who are seeking Him to be bold despite the persecution and possible death they may face upon their acceptance of the gospel.

Praise God for the 12th—27th March 2023

“I am the good shepherd. I know my own and my own know me, just as the Father knows me and I know the Father; and I lay down my life for the sheep.” (John 10:14-15 ESV)

Pray for the Yerwa Kanuri of Niger

There are over 170,000 Yerwa Kanuri living in Niger, out of almost 8 million in the world. The Kanuri are traditionally sheep and cattle herders who carry sticks to help guide their grazing animals or to chase them back home. The Kanuri are Muslims and wash their faces five times a day for ritualistic prayers. Because of this, their faces always look bright, and the name Kanuri was given to them as it combines two words meaning “stick” and “light.” The Kanuri do not know that there is a Good Shepherd who desires to lead them out of the darkness and into the light.

Pray

-          Pray the Yerwa Kanuri will come to know Jesus Christ as their Good Shepherd, who laid down His life for them and came that they may have abundant life.

-          Pray that the Yerwa Kanuri will hear the gospel proclaimed, and that they will no longer walk in darkness but will follow the Light of the World.

-          Pray the spiritual veil would be removed from their faces and they would behold the glory of the Lord.

Praise God for the 06th—12 March 2023

“Here is a trustworthy saying that deserves full acceptance: Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners.”  (1 Timothy 1:15 NIV)

Pray for the Zande of South Sudan

Historically, the Zande are small scale farmers growing maize, peanuts, cassava and sweet potatoes. They have an estimated global population of 2.8 million, with roughly 860,000 in South Sudan. Christianity was introduced to the Zande during British rule in the 1800s, and Catholic and Protestant churches exist within this people group. However, most Zande practice witchcraft, an evil magic that is the cause of all unusual or terrible events and that is used to inflict harm on others.

Although the IMB is not working among the Zande, we recently discovered that several Great Commission Christian groups are engaged in evangelism, discipleship and leadership training among them. We are thankful for this work; however, there is still much more to be done.  The greatest need is solid biblical discipleship.

Pray

  • Thank God for Christian groups working among the Zande. Pray for them as they share the gospel, teach believers and train pastors.
  • Pray against the lies of witchcraft and the strong hold it has on the Zande.
  • Pray for the Zande to come to understand what it means to be a follower of Jesus Christ and to yield their allegiances to Him.

Praise God for the Last 2 Weeks 20th February—05th March 2023
