“As for what was sown on good soil, this is the one who hears the word and understands it. He indeed bears fruit and yields, in one case a hundredfold, in another sixty, and in another thirty." (Matthew 13:23 ESV)

Pray for the Bisa of Cote d’Ivoire

The Bisa are known for growing peanuts and making peanut oil, peanut butter and crunchy peanut treats. A Bisa man who wants to court a Bisa girl must work in her mother’s peanut fields and provide the girl with her own field if they get married. Less than one third of Bisa children are educated, as their lives revolve around subsistence farming. The Bisa of Cote d’Ivoire number less than 150,000 out of over 1 million spread across western Africa. They were migrants who worked on plantation farms and eventually purchased property. The Bisa combine ancestral worship with Islam, and do not know that God desires to plant a seed in their lives that will produce a harvest of hope and life.

Pray

  • That believers will plant seeds of the gospel among the Bisa people, and that those

seeds would fall on fertile soil that will bear fruit.

Pray that the Bisa will understand the gospel and turn their hearts and minds toward

Christ to accept His gift of salvation.

Pray that many Bisa will worship the one true God.

Praise God for the Weeks 11th—25th October 2020

“How beautiful upon the mountains are the feet of him who brings good news, who publishes peace, who brings good news of happiness, who publishes salvation, who says to Zion, ‘Your God reigns.’” (Isaiah 52:7 ESV)

Pray for the Kotafon of Benin

The Kotafon adhere to the gods of voodoo, a religion birthed in Benin. They consider voodoo sacred and an integral part of their daily lives. Lake Aheme, around which the Kotafon people live, is considered under the power of the female voodoo deity, Awilé. People paddle their dugout canoes from around the lake to participate in honoring Awilé and cleansing evil spirits from their villages.

Mount Vernon Church (SBC) in Raleigh, North Carolina, has committed to winning the Kotafon to Christ and is working with indigenous missionary Marc Idjeberou and Benin Baptists. Four Ko churches have been planted with 10 men now attending Bible school. But voodoo worshippers are persecuting those faithful to Christ.

Prayer Requests

-         Pray that the Word of Christ will break through the bondage and draw people to surrender to Jesus.

-          Pray that the men studying God’s Word in the decentralized, oral Bible school will be instrumental in reaching their people for Christ.

-          Pray for pastors Jacques and Guy and the young Christians to be immovable and powerful witnesses in the face of persecution.

Praise God for the Weeks 21st September—06th October 2020

“How then will they call on him in whom they have not believed? And how are they to believe in him of whom they have never heard? And how are they to hear without someone preaching? And how are they to preach unless they are sent? As it is written, “How beautiful are the feet of those who preach the good news.” … So faith comes from hearing, and hearing through the word of Christ.” (Romans 10:14-15, 17 NIV)

Pray for the Banda of Chad

The Banda of Chad are an unengaged, unreached people group numbering 111,000. The IMB is not aware of anyone proclaiming the gospel among the Banda. No Bible translations are available in their language, called West Central Banda, and there are no gospel recordings, radio broadcasts or “JESUS” film. The Banda practice ethnic religion, which means it is closely tied to their unique culture.

Prayer Requests

  • Ask the Father to raise up Christian witnesses to preach the gospel of Jesus Christ to the Banda of Chad.
  • Pray that the Word of God would become available in the language of the Banda people.
  • Pray that as the Banda hear the Word of God their hearts would be receptive, and that they would turn from their sins and place their faith in Christ.
