“And there is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved.” (Acts 4:12)

Pray for the Pila of Benin

The Pila live mainly in the hot, dusty city of Djougou, Benin, where their king wields great power over the people and in villages around Djougou. The kings of people groups in Benin hold the religious standard of their people. For the Pila, this is a strict adherence to their mix of Islam and African traditional religion. The Pila have been resistant to the message of Jesus Christ. Although there are Christians of other ethnicities in Djougou, typically the Pila do not intermingle with them. A mission organization called SIM is finalizing the page layout for the entire Bible in Yom (the language spoken by the Pila), and the team is recording the New Testament for an organization called Faith Comes By Hearing. They are planning radio broadcasts in Yom with follow up for seekers.

 Pray

-          Pray that God would soften the hearts of the Pila to the message of Christ.

-          Pray the Yom Bible will quickly go to printing without problem and that the Pila will soon begin to listen to the New Testament in their language.

-          Pray that the Christians living among the Pila would be deeply burdened for their lostness and reach out in exceptional ways to draw them to Christ.

“When a foreigner resides among you in your land, do not mistreat them. 34 The foreigner residing among you must be treated as your native-born. Love them as yourself, for you were foreigners in Egypt. I am the Lord your God.” (Leviticus 19:33-34, NIV)

Pray for the Rwandese of Tanzania

Rwandese refugees moved into Tanzania during years of internal conflict in Rwanda, including the         mass genocide of 1994, when as many as 1 million people were murdered.

Now there are approximately 249,000 Rwandese residing in Tanzania. Their primary language in             Kinyarwanda, and the complete Bible is available in their language. Most Rwandese adheres to             Roman Catholicism. While there are a few evangelical believers among the Rwandese of Tanzania,         there is currently no active church planting efforts among them.

 Pray

    •  That displaced Rwandese will find a place of peace in their adopted home of Tanzania. Ask God to help them know they are His no matter where they live.
    • That the evangelical believers will have boldness to share their faith with the many Tanzanians who do not know Christ. Intercede for them to have the courage to be missionaries in the regions to which they have relocated.
    • That God will give favor to these Rwandese immigrants so that they can live and work legally in Tanzania.

“But you are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people for his own possession, that you may proclaim the excellencies of him who called you out of darkness into his marvelous light.” (1 Peter 2:9 ESV)

Pray for the Salampasu of the Democratic Republic of the Congo

The Salampasu live in rural villages on the frontier between the DRC and Angola. Their name means “hunter of locusts,” and they are regarded by their neighbors as fierce warriors. While the Salampasu are involved in hunting and farming, they are best known for their elaborate masks, which hold great significance in their sacred rituals as warriors. These masks are used to initiate boys into the society of warriors and are earned through performing specific deeds. The masks also act as guardians for the children and are believed to have spirits dwelling within them. There are no known believers or churches among the Salampasu.

Pray

  • ·   Pray for God to send someone to share the hope of the gospel with the Salampasu, that they may be called out of darkness into His marvelous light.
  • ·       Ask God to change the status of the Salampasu from “no known believers” to an entire generation of those who call on His name.
  • ·       Pray the Salampasu will realize that spirits do not dwell in man-made objects, but that God desires for His Spirit to dwell in their hearts.
