Do You Hate Your Life?

24 “I assure you: Unless a grain of wheat falls to the ground and dies, it remains by itself. But if it dies, it produces a large crop. 25 The one who loves his life will lose it, and the one who hates his life in this world will keep it for eternal life.  John 12:24-25 (HCSB)

In days before Christ was to face the cross and the cup of our sins, he spent time with his disciples to prepare them for the daunting task of sharing the Gospel to us, to the world.  What are the meanings of these words Jesus spoken.  “… the one who hates his life and this world will keep it for eternal life.”

When we look at prospective, it does not matter what happens in our lives if we are in the hands of Christ.

If people speak well of you, it does not matter much.

If they hate you, it does matter much.

If you have a lot of things, it does not natter

If you have little, it does not matter much.

If you are persecuted, it does not matter much.

If you are dead, these things just do not matter.

Jesus is saying to His disciples’ who physically present with Him at the time of this teaching and to all those who will be His disciple, us, chose to die with me.  We are called by our Savor to choose to hate our life and this world the way He chose the cross for our redemption.

This is what Jesus meant when He said, “If anyone wants to come with Me, he must deny himself, take up his cross, and follow Me.” Matthew 16:24.  People did only one thing on a cross, they died on it.  This is the choice we must make if we are to follow Jesus and be His disciple.
