Suba of Tanzania

2025 Status Update

“It is to be with him, and he is to read it all the days of his life so that he may learn to revere the Lord his God and follow carefully all the words of this law and these decrees.” (Deuteronomy 17:19 NIV)

 Challenges We’ve Faced

The Suba are spread across Kenya and Tanzania. Their exposure to the gospel in these two countries has been vastly different. The Suba of Kenya, who gather in healthy, growing churches, went to research the Suba of Tanzania. They found some churches and believers in Tanzania, but most Suba practice a mixture of the prosperity gospel and African Traditional Religion. The need for more gospel proclamation and church planting among the Suba in Tanzania is great.

Prayer Requests

    •  Ask God to send Suba believers from Kenya to the Suba in Tanzania.
    • Pray for the few Suba believers to grow in their faith and witness.
    • Ask God to plant more churches among the Suba in Tanzania.

Fula Jalon of Mali

2025 Status Update

“A voice of one crying out in the wilderness: Prepare the way for the Lord; make his paths straight! Every valley will be filled, and every mountain and hill will be made low; the crooked will become straight, the rough ways smooth, and everyone will see the salvation of God.” (Luke 3:4–6 HCSB)

Challenges We’ve Faced

The Fula Jalon are steeped in Islamic tradition. They consult men who use the Quran’s incantations, use black magic to curse their enemies, and even seek miraculous healing at a church in the region. We know of no churches or believers among the Fula Jalon. However, they are intrigued by stories of the prophets and Jesus’s ministry, as long as they align with the Quran’s message. They show interest in the Old Testament’s sacrificial system and the concept of one perfect sacrifice for the world’s sins.

Prayer Requests

·       Pray for youth in the city to cast aside religious traditions and follow Jesus.

·       Pray for the Fula Jalon to desire more than miracles from the church.

  • Pray that they would listen to the stories of Jesus and follow him.

Northern Teke of Gabon

2025 Status Update

“The times of ignorance God overlooked, but now he commands all people everywhere to repent, because he has fixed a day on which he will judge the world in righteousness by a man whom he has appointed; and of this he has given assurance to all by raising him from the dead.” (Acts 17:30-31)

Challenges We’ve Faced

Many Teke churches in Gabon are teaching the good news of salvation in Christ. These churches are active in evangelism and have planted new churches in unreached places. God has been working here through Protestant missionaries for almost 100 years. However, false gospels and African Traditional Religion’s idol worship remain serious obstacles to the healthy growth of the believers in Gabon, and Teke in more remote areas still do not have access to the gospel.

How You Can Pray

·       Praise God for how the Teke have come to know the name of Christ.

·       Ask God to raise up Teke people who will lead and teach faithfully.

·       Pray for the Teke to reach all their villages with the gospel.

Pila of Benin

2025 Status Update

“And there is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved.” (Acts 4:12)

Challenges We’ve Faced

The Pila of rural northern Benin are deeply committed to their traditional African mystical religion. Idol worship is the norm and expected. Recently, a training for Bible storying launched in this area. Four believers among the Pila participated. They learned and recorded 16 Bible stories in their language. Immersion in God’s Word in their language revitalized their faith. The team returned to their home villages, where they shared the stories and the full gospel.

How You Can Pray

·       Praise the Lord for new Pila believers!

·       Pray that the bonds of idol worship will be broken.

·      Pray that local believers will faithfully share the gospel.
